October Tea Report: 2021 China Exports & US Imports

Data from the China Tea Marketing Association and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for October 2021.

CHINA EXPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Jan-Oct total export volume is DOWN 0.9% year on year
• Total export volume is UP 24% over the previous October
• Average prices are UP 8.64% over the previous October to $5.91/kg
• Exports of GREEN tea volume INCREASED 22.2% over October 2020
• Exports of BLACK tea volume INCREASED 24% over same time last year

US IMPORTS

53.4% of all ORGANIC US TEA IMPORTS were from China

‍HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Average price for October GLOBAL imports was $4.84/kg
• Average price for October CHINA imports was $4.75/kg
• 39.2% of all GREEN tea import (volume) was from China, but only 17.4% of VALUE
