June Tea Report: 2021 China Exports & US Imports

Data from the China Tea Marketing Association and the US Census Bureau (GATS) was recently published regarding China exports and US imports of tea for June 2021.

CHINA EXPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Overall export volume dropped 8.2% year on year
• Prices are up 2.54% over the previous June to $6.86/kg
• Exports of black tea volume declined 15.4% over June 2020
• Exports of green tea volume decreased 5% over same time last year

US IMPORTS

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE

• Average prices for June global imports was $4.61/kg
• Average prices for June China imports was $5.19/kg
• 29.6% of all green tea import (volume) was from China, but only 15.6% of value
• 58.2% of all organic tea import (volume) was from China, but only 24.6% of value
